So Much Has Changed
I haven't gone to the post office in a long time. It may not be there the next time. Tell me the internet hasn't been assaulting the post office with its email campaign to undermine snail mail. Go ahead, tell me it's something else.
How about Ma Bell? remember when Bell Telephone was Telephone? I do. I'm 54 or 55 today and I remember way back when I had a rotary phone at home, or my parents did. Such a cool gadget. Now I'm stuck with a smartphone.
Computers, I grew up when there was, wasn't, wern't no computers. Period. End of story. Now, I have more computers than I want. My car has computers. They can't fix it without finding a computer card code. The mechanics life must be totally different, now he has to be a computer geek to fix your car.
My TV had the following channels from NYC, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 13. That's it. CBS, NBC,I don't remember, ABC, I don't remember and Public TV. I was the remote. When dad wanted the channel changed, I got the job of being his remote. Or when those squiggly lines would come up on the black and white screen, it was my job to recalibrate the vert and hori knobs on the back of those American Made TV's. Great Stuff.
My camera, Polaroid. My music, albums I bought at the record stores in Times Square. Do they even have any record stores down there anymore? I'm sure somebody in NY sells vinyl.
One thing I really don't miss. Bell Bottom Jeans. Ugly. My mom hated em too. I bought em used down at the Village when I was in high school. Always had frayed bottoms and she hated how they acted like brooms and drug dirt and hair in with them into the house. Maybe that's why I wear highwaters, to respect my mom.
Yea, things sure have changed. Not me though. I'm still the same. Yea, right. 54 or 55, which is it? Can't remember.

Great post Marty! I remember...er...some of those things (49).

Yea, at some point your memories hold a strange kind of power over you and how you move into the future. Of course, you don't look a day over 39, but I could be off a bit.
