Book to Read--Growing an Engaged Church
I'm sure I've written about this book before but I can't stop suggesting that you read it. I've read more books than some bookstores sell, so I know a good book when I see it. This is a good book. Just buy it and stick it on the shelf for when you know you need it. It will get you back to clear thinking about an Engaged church via engaged members.
I talked to a pastor's pastor the other day, Dave. He shared with me that not only does his work mean training pastors to develop a strategy and clear vision for their churches, but that is only half his work. The other half is training the members to kick it up a notch to do and be their part also. I'm sure Dave has thought about this for a while and it was not a new revelation to him just in the last few weeks, but he seemed to be completely convicted that this is where much of his future work will be.
Winseman's two books are the best strategic manuals I've seen for just that work. Pick up a copy, check out his website, gallupfaith.
