Health Is Life
I really enjoy these North Dakota Red Potatoes they grow here. They make a great potato salad. A church member brought a bag over this week. 50 pounds of potatoes. I moved the bag and it felt like 75 pounds. Then it occurred to me, that's about how much I need to lose to get down to my ideal weight, about 190 pounds.
I don't look that bad, at least I don't think so. But man, that 50 pound bag really gave me something to think about. I must be hiding that weight somewhere inside around my heart and organs and my stomach and who knows where else. Well, a few months ago, I declared war on it. I really enjoyed our visit with family in Miami last October, but I ate out so much in that 5 days, that I think I gained 10 pounds alone in five days. That was it for me. So I've lost that 10 and 12 more since then. But the battle goes on.
Actually, getting disgusted with myself was probably a good thing. It's made me more determined to drop the potatoes and other things that I can do without. Debbie has helped me by cooking good food and cutting down on some that's not as good.
I think too many of us are carrying around some extra pounds. It might be that you have to get sick of it before you do anything about it, but I can tell you that you can.
I'm heading out to the NAD Health Summit this weekend, maybe I'll lose a couple of pounds by eating all that healthy food they plan to serve.
